Year 125
All hail noble ladies and gentlemen!
Dear lords and ladys, unfortunately I don't have good news. My name is Kilian and have worked as
assistant so far. Pergalb left us last year forever. He had been ill for a long time and it
seemed like he saw his end coming. He wanted so badly to climb up to the peak of the Kupferzinnen,
his favourite place, where you have an wonderful view over the country. He refused that someone
joined him and hit the road on a warm summerday. He rest upon a stick and slowly he disappeared
from my eye.
But two days later he still hadn't returned, so everybody started to worry about him in Schmiedefeld.
He stayed away a bit longer sometime in the past, but with his bad health he shouldn't do this.
A few time ago he arranged a cave cozy underneath the highest peak of the Kupferzinnen. He said
there he would havethe best ideas for stories.
On the third day a group of men hit the road to check if everything is in order. I asked so long
until I was allowed to join them. When we stepped in the cave we saw Pergalb sitting on a table
on a his little wobbly stool, in front of him many paper and scrolls. The quill had fallen from
his hand, his head dropped on his chest and it looked like he would sleeping. But unfortunately
all his life had gone from him. The only thing that gave me comfort was the fact that he had died
peaceful on his favourite place at this moment.
We buried him in front of the entrance of the cave direktly on the bold rocky cliff. Only a little
hill of stones and a plain shield with his name tell about his last resting place.
The next days and weeks I mourned a lot. Pergalb had been my teacher and counselor with everything.
I entrust him with things I would have never told anybody, asked him for advice for things I would
have never asked my father. Also Alberich was very sad about this loss. But then he called for me.
He said that the life has go on and so he announced me to the writer of Erzerlande. I wanted to
protest because I didn't feel experienced enough for such a responsible task, but Alberich didn't
accept my arguments. Already after a short time I had so much to do that I had no time for mourning
anymore.
Besides my other tasks I will also continue the chronicle. I also asked Alberich for permission
for a strange action, I want to adopt the name of my mentor. He had no arguments against it and
due to the fact that it won't come to confusions in the official correspondence, I will be
called Pergalb from now.
During the last years we had to fight against Siegfried's troops. Sometimes more, sometimes
less severe had been the fight without seeing an end. In the meanwhile the alliance which
Erzlande belongs to, was able to win a companion over for our cause. From now on Sir Mazrim
from West Eternia will support our alliance.
Also the orcs come from time to time but we are always able to beat them within short time.
Luckely our armorer work with all their power and deliver weapons and armours in quantity.
So now I want to end my first chronicle article and hope that the readership will forgive
occasional mistakes, because I still have to learn a lot.
