The chronicles of TAMAR

Year 95

All hail noble ladies and gentlemen!

The worst has happened which I ever just could imagine. The storm of war came over our peaceful realm. But let me start at the beginning:
For quite some time the tone between several lords of Tamar had already been very glacial. Especailly between the members of the alliance of Lord Wolfen and the members of our alliance very harsh words were dropped. When lord Fox brought his troops to our land to practice and to protect our borders as I wrote in the last report, something unbelievable happened. The heinous Siegfried attacked the western territory of our realm in the dead of night. His men killed the peacefull farmers who lived there and claimed the whole strech of land which had been ours. Immediately Albrich protested angrily but he didn't get an answer from Siegfried. Down to the present day Siegfried hasn't give us any explanation. No words of sorrow or excuse for this barbaric action, just malice, new abuses and allegations. We had no options but to go to war. After we retook our land we had to react against further attacks of Siegfried which was soon supported by Lord Wolfen with his numerous troops. For months undulated the fight back and forth. Then Alberich ordered almost our whole armies to come back to Schmiedefeld to equip them new. In the meanwhile the brave men of Fox kept guard on the border. Alberich announced a ceasefire for our realm and we believed we would have some peace in our country. What then happened should be better reported by mister Fox. Thats why I want to add a letter of him at this place which we receiced us shortly after the following events and gave us the horrible certainty that the once honourable Lord Wolfen doesn't back away from anything to follow his power-hungry aims:
“It is winter. A snowstorm blows over the border fortification and our men await in their dugouts. Albrich ordered his troops back to his city some weeks ago to give them other weapons. Some are already back on their way. For this time Lord Alberich announced ceasefire, so we were in good heart that there would have some time without fights. Several months ago Lord Wolfen stationed his troops on the border. We feared that he had very powerful joint forces. But actually it is not his fight on this border – at least we thought so. Lionheart has sent a army on the way to the war zone. At a first glance they seem to be just slightly armed. But that is not a compensation to their aggressive behaviour. All the while Lionheart which signified to be an ally of Wolfen and Siegfried, treks through the territory of Alberich – actually a very inacceptable situation and provocation. It had been dawn. Fortunatally our point men detected the approaching troops of Siegfried very early. So we had enough time to take up position to protect the border against the offenders. Already after a short time the troops of Siegfried were defeated so far that they fled in wild panic. This had been a celebration for our men who had the last rout against Siegfried still in their mind. Noboday took attention to the dark power which came from the west. The sun set was already over when the wild scream of hundreds of enemy combattants nearly let us die of awe. It was a slaughter, barely one escaped this murderous attack...“
Here the reports end, because even the observer who normally tell me about the denouement of a fight, didn't return or they experienced something very horrible so that they couldn't give any useful information anymore. Just a little rag of cloth I got from the scene of bloodbath: the emblem of the troops of Lord Wolfen! Without being in fight with him he destroyed our border troops with a superior force. The troops of Albrich who came with new weapons from the main capitle to this place couldn't do anything else than to bury the remains of my brave men. So it is clear for me that Wolfen and his henchman Siegfried belong the the worst dangers which excist on our island. I think this description of these horrible events speaks for itself. Alberich was boiled with indignation when he heard from this terrible lot which Fox had to accept. There was only one expedient: We had to use all our troops for an attack. So I wrote the orders to the troops with a heavy heart with the knowledge that through these orders many brave men would lose their lives. Furthermore Alberich gave the troops of Lionheart an ultimatum. They should leave our land as soon as possible and Lionheart should explain is aggressive action. But when the troops of Lord Lionheart didn't leave our land at the end of the ultimatum, but to the contrary fortified behind their fortified position there was the point of no return. Alberich asked the men of Fox who had been in the near for help. Thereat they attacked the men of Lionheart with might and main. It was an easy victory, but nobody was delighted about it. The men had been equiped very bad. With weak weapons and almost no armors they became an easy prey for the swords of the fast-approaching troops. As much as I admire the true heroism of these men who hold up bravely to the bitter end, I detest the greed of power of Wolfen which gets him to rally around him allies which blindly precipitate into ruin for him. Then months of horrible fights followed. We were able to get the better of the troops of Siegfried and Wolfen after a short time and thanks to the help of our allies caused harm to them, but also our rows thinned out more and more. And our opponents grommed new troops again and again so that even now the fight is not over. Some lords of Tamar have sent their scouts to observe the war. The news about the horrible fights spread like wildfire, so now the scouts are camping in save distance from the battle field and makeing reports to their masters. But I also recognized events in other, more peaceful parts of Tamar.
Just recently something happened on another island at a lord called Raistlin. Due to a unbelievable misplanning of his curator there wasn't enough grain in the storage anymore to feed his people. So many people had to die because of hunger during a long-lasting winter. But this was not everything. There was also not enough grain for a new seed and so over 17,000 of his subjects died a terrible death. I just can hope that in future he will check all plans by himself and won't entrust blindly the lives of his subjects an incapable curator. I'd like to end this report with the hope that I will have some more positive news the next time.
